How to Clean Hydrogen Water Bottle : My Simple 5-Step Routine
Learn how to clean a hydrogen water bottle using my simple 5-step routine to remove buildup, prevent odor, and keep hydrogen water safe.
The hydrogen water bottles are not like the regular bottles and with years I have learned that they need a little extra attention to clean up. There is subtle technology that is contained in these bottles and mishandling them as a normal water bottle may ruin their functionality. I have long been utilizing the Piurify Hydrogenator and it has become my popular choice of hydrogen water that is fresh.
Maintaining the hydrogen bottle of water does not need to be complex. It only takes a few steps to make sure mine is always fresh, odorless and fully functional. Today, I will take you through my day and give you some advice that I have picked up throughout my time. At the end, you will realize how to make your hydrogen bottle last as long as possible.

Step 1: Read bottle instructions
I always go through the instructions that were given by the manufacturer before starting to scrub. The design of hydrogen water bottles differs, yet the majority of them are constructed in a similar way; therefore, the cleaning experience is normally similar regardless of the brand. A quick look would assure that I will not break the electronics or the membrane inside the base.
Going through the experience, I have realized that it can be expensive to skip this step. Step 2: Separate the Base and Bottle

Rather, I wash it after every couple of weeks in a soft vinegar bath. All that is required is about 3 ounces of white vinegar and time of sitting (an hour) to ensure the membrane remains free of calcium accumulation and mineral deposits.
In case of milder taste, I take citric acid. I drop a small spoonful in water, shake the bottle a few seconds and pour the contents and rinse them out. This maintains the consistency of the hydrogen production and averts any accumulated production that may impact on the quality of water. It is a tiny step that will be a tremendous difference in the long run.
Step 3: Clean the Bottle appropriately
After making sure that the base is separated, I turn my attention to the main bottle. I apply warm water and soft dish washing soap and wash it with a soft brush. The majority of hydrogen bottles, such as Piurify Hydrogenator, can be washed in 1-2 minutes, although it is possible to have more complex structures. For those, patience is key.
I ensure also wiping the exterior. Fingerprints and water marks and smudges build up easily and a quick wipe is what helps it to appear fresh. Washing the exterior might be a small point, but it makes the entire process of consuming the bottle much more pleasant.
Step 4: Clean the Lid underwater
Straws or crevices are the areas where most of the hidden bacteria live: on the lid. I never put it dirty without using a straw brush. The tight corners cannot be reached with either a normal sponge or a large brush, and I have discovered that such a small device can change a lot.
Any gaskets or rubber seals that can be removed are also removed. Quick scrub is done to make sure that there is no mold and leftover in the minute openings. In case your lid is safe in a dishwasher, you can do that as well, but personally I wash these by a hand to prolong the use of the material.
Step 5: Dry It All off
I rinse and shake off the excess water then leave every part to air dry. One of the most frequent errors is to stand the bottle on its heels since it causes the water to be clogged at the base. I put mine on a drying rack or a towel with some inclination to permit air circulation.
Lids, straws and gaskets dry up independently. This will require some additional time, but this will help to avoid mold, bacteria and the odor that is left. Drying is another practice which I will never overdo–it keeps the bottle in good condition to use all the time.

Day-to-Day Routine of Maintenance
I use a quick warm water rinse of my Piurify Hydrogenator on a daily basis. This is my daily routine when using all hydrogen water bottles. This will ensure that the water does not go bad in taste and also avoids development of residues. It can be so unimportant that a fast rinse in a day will save many hours and inconveniences later.
Another trick I do not break is to use purified water. Tap water may have minerals and impurities which forms a film on the membrane and decreases hydrogen production. By using filtered water, I would be guaranteeing the quality of my water as well as the durability of the bottle.

Deep Cleaning Tips
To clean further I sometimes use white vinegar or citric acid. This is required in case of any stubborn odors, white mineral deposits or any form of mould. To clean it, I use half a bottle of warm water, 1-2 Tablespoons of vinegar and leave it to do its thing between 10-15 minutes- or more depending on how dirty it is.
The bottle and lid and any straws are soaked, scrubbed with the proper brushes and finally rinsed. This measure maintains the hydrogen generator at its highest level and makes each of the sips clean and refreshing. This deep cleaning is done after every few weeks or when I feel that there is some accumulation.

What to Avoid
Hydrogen water bottles are fragile and therefore there are several things that I never do. To start with, I do not submerge in the bottom. The electronics in it are delicate and a single error can destroy the bottle.
I do not use even dishwashers on the bottle and the lid. The material and the membrane are susceptible to damage by high temperature and strong detergents. Bleach or other rough chemicals are a great taboo, as it may corrode the fine components that separate oxygen and hydrogen molecules. I have learned that these are the most important things I should avoid to ensure that my bottle lasts decades.
